The morning air felt different that day — filled with excitement, whispers, and the promise of something new. A baby had just been born in our family, and I could barely contain my joy. My father and I set out to meet the little princess, and all through the town bus ride into the next town, one thought kept running through my mind: Will they let me hold her? Will they place her in my lap? Maybe I was too little for that, but I had already decided — I would at least touch the baby. When I finally saw her, so small and delicate, I was mesmerized by her tiny hands and fingers. As expected, I wasn’t allowed to carry her or have her sit on my lap.
